Wii U (ウィ ー · ユ ー, wī yū?), With key name Project Café, is a console belonging to the eighth generation of video consoles, being the seventh desktop console created by Nintendo and direct Wii Successor. The console was launched on November 18, 2012 on North American terrain being its opening date. It was presented at the Nintendo Conference during Electronic Entertainment Expo 2011 on June 7, 2011. Competition mainly with Sony PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One of Microsoft.
Wii U is the first Nintendo console to produce high-definition graphics to a resolution of 1080p. Includes a new command that incorporates a touch screen that receives signal in 480p quality of the console, which allows you to keep playing even when the TV is off. This new command has been called: Wii U Gamepad. The system is retranscating with Wii games, and supports Wii peripherals, such as Wiimote or Wii Balance Board and including NFC technology, as well as that it is compatible with amiibum figures and cards as their own accessory (also compatible in The Nintendo 3DS, which modify the way you play videogames). At the end of May 2017, Nintendo ceased the manufacture of the Wii U console. The latest videogames published for the Wii U console were The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in terms First-Party and Just Dance 2019 in terms third-party.
