Midfielder Philipp Sander will not be available to the football second division Holstein Kiel for the time being for a “light heart muscle inflammation”.
This would have given “extensive medical follow-up” to Sanders Corona infection, the club announced on Thursday.
This case show “how important a full-scanned medical accompaniment is to a corona infection,” said Managing Director Holstein Uwe Stöver.
How long the 24 year old Sander has to pause is unclear.
“We know about the dangers and are aware of our responsibility towards each individual. A cardiological examination is obligatory with us,” said Stöver.
Sander should completely cure his illness and will slowly rebuild “after medical accompaniment”.
